For 2023, the Royal Mint used visual anti-counterfeiting aids that are both secure and aesthetic. Along the rim of Britannia's depiction is micro-text with the words "DECUS ET TUTAMEN," which translates to "AN ORNAMENT AND A SAFEGUARD." The Union Jack shield features tincture lines within its stripes. A surface animation in the background shows flowing waves. Finally, in the bottom left, a padlock morphs into a trident as the viewer tilts the coin. Contains .999 fine silver.
