The 2023 American Gold Eagle. The 2023 coin features the new type 2 reverse design introduced in 2021.The obverse features an adaptation of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ gold eagle design with Lady Liberty walking with confidence against the sun’s ray surrounded by fifty stars, symbolizing the unity of the fifty states, the enlightenment, and hope that freedom represents, and the importance of embracing peace to enrich ourselves with the hopes of a brighter life.The new reverse features a head profile of a majestic bald eagle. It was designed by artist Jennie Norris and sculpted by medallic artist Renata Gordon both from the Artistic Infusion Program invited by the US Mint. It also features the inscriptions; "United States of America," "E Pluribus Unum" "In God We Trust," "50 Dollars," and "1 oz. Fine Gold."
